ANABELLA LENZU (Artistic Director, Choreographer, Dancer)
Originally from Argentina, Anabella Lenzu is a dancer, choreographer and teacher with 25 years experience working in Argentina, Chile, Italy and the USA. As Artistic Director of Anabella Lenzu/DanceDrama, Lenzu draws on her diverse background to create thought-provoking and socially-conscious dance-theatre in the interest of improving our human condition. Classically trained at the renowned Teatro Colòn in Buenos Aires, Lenzu studied the modern dance techniques of Humphrey/Limòn and Graham in New York. Her studies of Tango and the folkdances of Argentina, Spain, and Italy, further inform her work. Her choreography has been commissioned all over the world, for opera, TV programs, theatre productions, and by many dance companies, such as Anna Sokolow Theatre/Dance Ensemble (New York) and Movimento Danza (Naples, Italy). Lenzu founded her own dance school L’Atelier Centro Creativo de Danza in 1994, and has maintained an active teaching career ever since. Currently, Lenzu conducts classes at Peridance Capezio Center and Wagner College. Lenzu is also a published author for various dance and arts magazines.
TODD CARROLL (Manager Director)
Todd Carroll, a professional photographer and educator with over 20 years experience, presently maintains a photo-studio in Brooklyn, New York, where he works freelance for various international magazines and publications, as well as his personally driven projects. He obtained a Masters of Professional Studies in Digital Photography Degree from SVA in NYC in 2009 and currently teaches classes there. Lauren Ohmer (Assistant to the choreographer-Dancer)
A native of Savannah, GA, Lauren graduated from Butler University with a BFA in Dance Performance. Since then she has gone on to receive critical acclaim for her performances of contemporary work in Chicago, L.A., and NYC. She has been dancing with AL/DD since 2007, Lauren also spends her time as a licensed massage therapist specializing in Thai Massage. Visit her website.
Originally from Raleigh, NC, Graham Cole is a New York City-based freelance dancer. Most recently Graham has appeared as a guest artist with Daniel Gwirtzman Dance Company, Greenville Civic Ballet, and Winston-Salem Festival Ballet. Graham graduated from UNC School of the Arts in May 2015 with a BFA in contemporary dance.
Sydney Mei Ruf-Wong is a performing artist who dabbles in contemporary and cultural dance, theatre, aerial, and tango. As well as sharing artistic experiences, she enjoys rock climbing, tiptoeing through the imagination of Neil Gaiman, and exploring the world. After earning a BFA in Musical Theatre from UW-Milwaukee's Peck School of the Arts, Sydney moved to NYC where she currently dances with Silva Dance Company. She is excited to join DanceDrama for the first time to present this meaningful work!
Hope Parker originates from Denver, CO. She relocated to NY to continue her training with the Joffrey Ballet School Pre-professional program. She’s had the privilege of dancing professionally for Odyssey Dance Theater, Breton Follies, A Brooklyn Boy, and much more. She is thrilled to further explore her abilities with AL/DD.
Dina Denis, a native New Yorker, BA in Dance from Hofstra U., MA in Dance Education from NYU. Dina, a k-12 NYS certified dance educator directs the dance department at the Long Island High School for the Arts; teaches at Hunter College Arnhold Graduate Dance Ed Program; & is a certified Zena Rommett Floor-Barre teacher. In 2003, Dina founded Dance Into Light, a dance company. Since 2007, Dina collaborates with visual artist Fulbright Scholar Siona Benjamin, on symbolic Indian & Jewish artwork inspired dances. She has choreographed & performed with DIL and Ms. Benjamin in schools, libraries & museums nation-wide.
